BANK STATEMENT CONVERSION

From bank statement to a reviewable spreadsheet.

Convert a statement into transaction rows, check the result against the original, and export to Excel or CSV. Bankverto provides Personal and CA workspaces so records stay in the right account or client context.

Upload a statement · Compare plans and limits

1. Start with the best available source

Download the original statement from your bank when possible. A digital PDF usually contains clearer text than a screenshot of a printed statement. CSV and supported native statement files can also avoid OCR errors. Scanned PDFs and JPG or PNG images depend on the quality and legibility of the source.

Keep page order intact. Include the full transaction table rather than cropping away column headings, opening balances or the date range. If a PDF requires a password, use the password prompt in the upload workflow. Never provide your banking login or OTP.

2. Select the correct workspace

Sign in before uploading. Choose the financial account in your Personal workspace, or the correct client in your CA workspace. This keeps transaction review, exports and usage associated with the intended records. Upload limits and available features depend on the selected plan.

3. Review the extracted transactions

Check the first and last transaction dates, transaction count, debit and credit direction, amounts and running balances where available. Review any flagged or uncertain rows. Compare the transaction description with the original bank narration; references and bank abbreviations may need interpretation rather than being treated as merchant names.

A spreadsheet that opens successfully is not proof that every transaction was extracted correctly. Look for missing pages, repeated rows, foreign-currency entries and transactions split across page boundaries. Correct uncertain values before using the export for reconciliation, tax work or bookkeeping.

4. Choose Excel or CSV

Use Excel when you want a workbook for filtering, sorting and reviewing transactions. Use CSV when the receiving application expects a plain table. CSV does not preserve workbook formatting, formulas or multiple sheets. When importing CSV, select UTF-8 and check how your application interprets dates and decimal separators.

Download from the statement or transaction view after review. Keep the column headers and confirm the export covers the intended statement or date range. Accounting imports may require a separate mapping step; an Excel or CSV export is not a direct connection to QuickBooks or Xero.

Privacy and source retention

Bankverto uses private storage for uploaded statements and removes successful source documents after processing. Extracted records remain available for review and export. Failed processing may retain a source for recovery. Keep your own original if you need it for future checks. Read the privacy policy and service provider information before uploading sensitive records.

For accountants and CA practices

Review one client and period at a time, reconcile the exported totals, and check your destination application's import requirements. Before importing a full accounting file, test a small sample and check duplicate-import behaviour. Conversion supports your review; it does not replace professional judgement or guarantee acceptance by another application.
